Ramzan M. Zakir is among the nation’s top interventional cardiologists

Ramzan M. Zakir, MD, RPVI, FACC, FSCAI, founder of the Heart and Vascular Institute of Central Jersey and Cardiac and Vascular Interventions of New Jersey, is a renowned interventional cardiologist and is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and endovascular.

Dr. Ramzan Zakir is the director of high-risk PCI and research at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Since 2009, he has performed thousands of successful coronary and endovascular procedures. The RWJPE Heart and Vascular Institute of Central Jersey is where he assesses the needs of his patients prior to performing complex coronary interventions. He also performs complex endovascular procedures on patients suffering from peripheral vascular disease at CVI, an outpatient office-based laboratory.

Currently, Dr. Zakir is the director of high-risk PCI and research at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He is also a clinical associate professor of medicine at Rutgers Medical School – Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and he is involved in research and fellow training. As a leader in interventional cardiology, he serves as principal investigator of several clinical trials to enhance the management of patients with coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease and venous disease.

Dr. Zakir has authored numerous papers and is invited faculty at conferences throughout the world. He is a co-founder of the New Jersey Cardiovascular Foundation, which provides educational programs on a quarterly basis, and Cors at the Shore — a CME conference that successfully took place in Long Branch.

Dr. Zakir is a recipient of numerous awards including:

  • Honoree, 2022 Distinguished Worldwide Humanitarian Award.
  • The IAOTP Top Interventional Cardiologist of the Year recognition, which was featured on a billboard in Times Square, New York City.
  • The Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
  • Continental Who’s Who Cardiologist of the Year.
  • The Albert Einstein Lifetime Achievement Award.
  • Best in Medicine recognition by the American Health Council.
  • 2023 New Jersey Medical Luminary for Outstanding Achievement.
  • Top 100 Registry Business Leaders and Professionals 2023 Top Doctor of the Year

He has also been acknowledged regularly as a Top Cardiologist by Castle Connolly Top Doctors, New Jersey Monthly Top Doctors, and NJ Top Doctors and Dentists.
