Lambertville has what you’re looking for, from Halloween festivities to Thanksgiving and holiday plans

ACME Screening Room will kick off Lambertville’s historic Halloween festivities with the second-annual Lambertville Halloween Film Festival Oct. 27-29, an event featuring exciting industry guest speakers, show-stopping artist demonstrations, guided ghost tours, parties, and — most importantly — horror films.

For most of us, the return of fall brings plans for holiday shopping, Thanksgiving preparations and, of course, celebrating Halloween. Fortunately for New Jerseyans, the Delaware River town of Lambertville, voted Jersey’s Best Destination of the Year for 2023, offers multiple great opportunities to get these activities accomplished while savoring other autumn delights.

Arts & Antiques Weekend

Taking place Oct. 6-8, Lambertville’s annual Art and Antiques Weekend is host to dozens of artist galleries, antique shops and traders, private collectors and vintage stores enjoying state and national recognition.

In fact, Lambertville is known as The Antiques Capital of New Jersey by The Travel Channel, HGTV, Visit NJ, collectors, designers and impassioned hobbyists throughout the country.

Many stores will feature special sales and merchandise offered expressly for the weekend event. So, if you’ve been looking for that perfect piece for your home or office — or a one-of-a-kind gift for the person on your holiday list who has everything — there’s never been a better time to check out the crown jewels of the River Towns.

Lambertville Halloween Festival and Monster Bash Costume Party

Historic Lambertville, a scenic town nestled on the banks of the Delaware river and the namesake town of the Lambertville Halloween Film Festival, takes two things very seriously: its artistic community and Halloween. Thousands of visitors swarm every year to get a peek at Union Street’s  decorations — which could rival a Universal sound stage — and, of course, to score some king-size candy bars.

In the middle of it all is the ACME Screening Room, an independent Arthouse Cinema celebrating its 15th anniversary. No stranger to the horror community, the ACME has been host to guest genre directors including Lance Weiler (“The Last Broadcast”), Robbie Banfitch (“The Outwaters”), and Lee Esposito (“Lillith”).

This year, ACME Screening Room will kick off Lambertville’s historic Halloween festivities with the second-annual Lambertville Halloween Film Festival Oct. 27-29, an event featuring exciting industry guest speakers, show-stopping artist demonstrations, guided ghost tours, parties, and — most importantly — horror films.

Thanksgiving Day Two Town Turkey Trot

Before you sit down to your Thanksgiving feast this year, work off some pre-dinner calories at the eighth-annual Two Town Turkey Trot. The streets of Lambertville, N.J., and New Hope, Pa., will fill with runners working up an appetite for their turkey dinners this Thanksgiving morning as the Greater Lambertville Chamber of Commerce holds the 5-kilometer Two Town Turkey Trot and 1-mile health walk. Proceeds will support the chamber’s programs and Fisherman’s Mark, a local nonprofit organization that serves those in need in all the Delaware River Towns communities.

Starting and ending in downtown Lambertville, the course will take runners across the historic and charming Lambertville-New Hope Bridge, through the streets of bustling and festive downtown New Hope, back across the bridge and through Lambertville’s historic downtown business district. Runners will be electronically chip timed. Participants who pre-register will receive a commemorative race shirt, limited to the first 1,000 registered participants, and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Early online race registration is $40 and will close on Nov. 18. Early bib pickup will take place Nov. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lambertville House Events Center. In-person/day-of-race registration is $50, and bib pickup will open at 7 a.m. The race will start promptly at 8:30 a.m., rain, shine — or snow.
